ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a specific approach called the Perceive, Recall, Plan and Perform (PRPP) intervention, which aims to help older adults who have experienced cognitive challenges after a brain injury. The goal is to improve their ability to perform everyday tasks, such as cooking, using a cell phone, or participating in leisure activities. By using this structured training, occupational therapists will guide participants through tasks that are important to them, helping them develop strategies to become more independent in their daily lives.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be older adults with an acquired brain injury who are currently receiving care at certain health centers. They should have difficulty performing daily tasks, specifically scoring below 85% on a related assessment. However, individuals with diagnosed dementia, other progressive brain disorders, or significant physical disabilities that affect their daily activities will not be included. Participants can expect to attend sessions three times a week for three weeks, where they will work closely with an occupational therapist to practice these important skills. Throughout the trial, their progress will be measured at different points to see how well they improve. This research hopes to provide evidence that this intervention can significantly help older adults regain their independence after a brain injury.
