ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well a medication called pregabalin works to manage pain after surgery compared to another pain medication called fentanyl, which is given during surgery. Pregabalin is taken before the operation and is thought to help reduce the amount of stronger pain medication needed afterward. This approach aims to help patients feel better while minimizing side effects from opioids, which can include nausea, dizziness, and excessive sleepiness.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be healthy women aged between 76 and 164 years. They should not have any serious health issues or a history of chronic pain, and they should not be taking certain medications like sedatives or antidepressants. Those who join the study can expect to take either pregabalin or fentanyl and will be monitored for pain relief and any side effects. It’s important to know that the trial is currently recruiting participants, and the goal is to find a safer way to manage pain after surgery.
