ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a condition called acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients who have been hospitalized at University Hospital San Martino in Genova, Italy. AKI is when the kidneys suddenly stop working well, which can happen for various reasons, including complications from other illnesses like COVID-19. The study aims to understand how common AKI is among hospitalized patients and what happens to them after they develop this condition.
To be eligible for this study, patients must be admitted to the hospital and can be from a wide age range, typically between 65 and 74 years old, regardless of gender. Patients who are on hemodialysis, a treatment for kidney failure, will not be included. If you or a loved one is part of this trial, you can expect that the researchers will review medical records to gather information about your kidney health during your hospital stay. This study is important because it will help doctors better understand AKI and improve care for future patients.
