ClinConnect Summary

The PAKistan Study of prEmature coronary atHerosclerosis in young AdulTs (PAK-SEHAT) is a clinical trial aimed at understanding heart disease in young and middle-aged people in Pakistan. It focuses on the early signs of a condition called coronary atherosclerosis, where fatty deposits build up in the arteries, which can lead to serious heart problems later on. The study will involve 2,000 healthy Pakistani men aged 35 to 60 and women aged 35 to 65 who do not have any known heart disease. Researchers will conduct detailed tests on these participants, including advanced imaging of the heart, and will follow them for five years to gather important information about heart health in this population.

To be eligible for the trial, participants must be native Pakistanis within the specified age range and willing to take part. However, those with certain health issues—like severe kidney problems, a history of stroke or heart attacks, or those who are pregnant—cannot join the study. By participating, individuals can help researchers learn more about heart disease risks in younger people, which may lead to better ways to prevent heart problems in the future.
