ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different methods of pain relief for patients who have undergone video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), which is a type of minimally invasive surgery for lung problems. The trial will compare the effectiveness of two techniques called the Serratus Anterior Plane Block (SAPB) and the Erector Spinae Plane Block (ESPB) in managing both immediate (acute) and ongoing (chronic) pain after surgery. The goal is to see which method works better in helping patients feel comfortable and recover faster, as managing pain effectively can lead to shorter hospital stays and fewer complications.
To participate in this study, individuals must be between 18 and 65 years old, in good health (with mild to moderate medical conditions), and scheduled for elective VATS. However, those with advanced cancer, a history of long-term pain medication use, allergies to local anesthetics, infections in the area where the procedure will occur, or bleeding disorders will not be eligible. Participants can expect to receive one of the two pain relief methods and will be monitored for their pain levels after surgery. This research is currently recruiting patients and aims to improve pain management strategies for future surgical patients.
