ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying acute diverticulitis, a condition that causes inflammation in the intestines. Researchers are looking into how common this condition is in Finland and comparing the results of two different treatment approaches: conservative treatment (like medication and lifestyle changes) versus surgical treatment (surgery to remove affected parts of the intestine). The study will use information from national health records and patient charts collected between 2009 and 2019 to better understand the outcomes for patients with diverticulitis.
If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with acute diverticulitis and is between the ages of 65 and 85, you may be eligible to participate in this trial. Participants can expect to share their medical history and treatment experiences, which will help researchers gather important data on how this condition is managed in Finland. It’s important to note that only patients with acute diverticulitis will be included, and those with other causes of abdominal pain will not be eligible. Your involvement could contribute to better understanding and management of this condition in the future!
