ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of performance and image enhancing drugs (PIEDs), specifically androgenic anabolic steroids (AAS), on recreational athletes. The goal is to understand how these substances may impact heart health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life. Researchers will gather information from 1,200 participants who have used these drugs for at least three months. They will look at various factors such as early signs of heart disease, psychological health, and changes in body composition.
If you’re a recreational athlete aged 18 or older and have used PIEDs for at least three months, you may be eligible to participate in this study. There are no specific exclusions, meaning anyone who meets the criteria can join. Participants will provide blood, urine, and hair samples to help researchers build a better understanding of the potential health risks associated with PIED use. This study is important because it aims to create more clinical data on PIEDs, which is currently very limited.
