ClinConnect Summary
The ACUTE trial is looking at patients who need urgent surgical care at Skåne University Hospital. Researchers want to understand the different risk factors that might affect these patients and how their surgeries impact their long-term health, especially after issues like gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. This study is not testing a new treatment; instead, it is observing past cases from 2009 to 2019 to gather valuable information about complications that can arise from surgical procedures and anesthesia.
To participate, individuals must be 18 years or older and have been admitted to the hospital for urgent surgery. Everyone, regardless of gender, is welcome to join. If you or a family member are eligible, you won’t have to take any new medications or undergo any new procedures; the study simply reviews existing medical records to help improve future surgical care for similar patients. Your participation could contribute to better understanding and management of surgical risks, which is important for improving patient outcomes.
