ClinConnect Summary
The "Hear Again, Work Again" clinical trial is studying the effects of severe to profound hearing loss and the use of cochlear implants on people's work lives, productivity, and overall wellbeing. The researchers want to understand how hearing loss impacts things like taking time off work and how people feel about their daily activities. They will include 200 adults aged 18 to 65 who have significant hearing loss, with half of them receiving cochlear implants and the other half not, due to various reasons.
If you're between 18 and 65, have severe to profound hearing loss, and can understand and speak Dutch, you might be eligible to participate. During the trial, you can expect to undergo several tests and fill out questionnaires about your hearing and quality of life. These appointments will take place over time, requiring about an hour each visit at the hospital, plus some time at home to complete the questionnaires. The trial aims to gather important information that could help improve the understanding of hearing loss and its effects on work and social life.
