ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different surgical techniques used during total hip replacement (also known as total hip arthroplasty) might affect the likelihood of having a limp one year after the surgery. Specifically, it compares the lateral approach (where the surgeon makes an incision on the side of the hip) to the posterior approach (where the incision is made at the back of the hip). The goal is to see which method may lead to less limping after the operation, especially for patients with hip osteoarthritis.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult scheduled for a total hip replacement due to primary hip osteoarthritis and be able to read and write in Swedish. However, if you have issues with the other hip or knee that cause limping, certain neuromuscular diseases, or significant leg length differences after surgery, you won't be eligible. If you join, you can expect to be monitored for a year after your surgery to see how well you recover and whether you experience any limping. This research could help improve surgical techniques and outcomes for future patients undergoing hip replacement.
