ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a specific protein called neurofilament light chain (NFL) in patients who have experienced a cardiac arrest outside of the hospital and were successfully brought back to life. The researchers want to understand how the levels of NFL in the blood can help predict how well a patient will recover, particularly concerning their brain function. They will compare NFL levels in patients who have a good recovery with those who do not, to see if there is a difference.
To participate in this trial, patients must be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have experienced an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest that was successfully treated. Unfortunately, individuals who have suffered from trauma, drowning, electrocution, or are younger than 18 years cannot join. If eligible, participants will have their blood tested for NFL levels during their stay in the intensive care unit (ICU) after their cardiac arrest. This study is currently looking for volunteers, and everyone is welcome to participate, regardless of gender.
