ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the use of butyrate enemas as a treatment for pediatric ulcerative colitis, which is a condition that causes inflammation in the colon. Butyrate is a substance that our gut produces, and it may help improve symptoms in children with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis. The trial is currently looking for participants between the ages of 7 and 21 who have this condition. However, children who have recently been treated for ulcerative colitis or have infections in their intestines won't be eligible to join.
If your child qualifies for this study, they will receive butyrate enemas to see how well they work in managing their symptoms. This is a feasibility study, meaning the researchers want to find out if butyrate enemas are a practical and effective treatment option. Participants will be monitored closely throughout the trial, and their health will be assessed to understand the therapy's effects. This study is a great opportunity for eligible children to potentially benefit from a new treatment option while helping researchers learn more about managing ulcerative colitis.
