ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a specialized ultrasound test called transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) to see how well it can identify a serious chest injury known as blunt traumatic aortic injury (BTAI) in patients who have experienced trauma. The goal is to find out if emergency doctors can effectively use this test to help diagnose patients in the emergency department.
To participate in this study, patients must be adults aged 18 years and older who are suspected of having BTAI and will undergo both TEE and another imaging test called computed tomography angiography (CTA). Unfortunately, children and those with certain health issues, like suspected injuries to the esophagus, cannot take part. If you join the study, you can expect to receive both tests as part of your emergency care. This research is important because it aims to improve the diagnosis of a life-threatening condition, ultimately helping doctors make better treatment decisions for patients with chest trauma.
