ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a condition called endolymphatic hydrops, which is related to problems in the inner ear that can affect hearing and balance. The researchers want to understand how common this condition is in people who have a history of congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection, a virus that can affect babies before they are born. They are currently looking for participants who are over 6 months old and have been diagnosed with congenital CMV infection, along with experiencing issues with hearing or balance.
Eligible participants will need to provide consent to join the study, and if they are minors, both parents must agree. Those who join the trial may undergo tests that include MRI scans to help assess their condition. It’s important to note that certain individuals, such as pregnant or breastfeeding women, or those with specific medical conditions, cannot participate. This study aims to improve our understanding of how congenital CMV infection may relate to ear problems, which could ultimately help in managing these patients better.
