ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called nursERAS-BCN, is studying how having a Nurse Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Coordinator (NEC) can help patients recover better after major colorectal surgery. The goal is to see if the NEC can improve how well patients follow the recovery plan, known as the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) program. Patients over 18 years old who are scheduled for this type of surgery may be eligible to participate, as long as they have adequate social support and do not have certain mental health issues or other complicating factors.
Participants in the trial will be divided into two groups: one group will receive support from the NEC, while the other group will not. Throughout the study, the researchers will monitor how well patients stick to their recovery plans and also look at how this affects their overall quality of life. By understanding the role of the NEC, the study aims to find ways to improve patient care and recovery after surgery, which could also lead to better health outcomes and more efficient use of healthcare resources.
