ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating a method called the "Pontic-shield" technique, which is aimed at preserving the bone in your jaw after a tooth extraction. After a tooth is removed, it’s common for the surrounding bone to shrink, making it harder to place dental implants successfully in the future. The study will compare the effectiveness of the Pontic-shield technique to two other methods: leaving the tooth socket alone and using a special type of bone material and a collagen membrane to help with healing.
To participate in this trial, you need to be between 18 and 80 years old and require the extraction of a tooth located between the second premolar teeth in either your upper or lower jaw. Unfortunately, if you smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day, have certain severe health conditions, or have active gum disease, you may not be eligible. If you join the study, you’ll have the chance to contribute to important research that could improve dental care and outcomes for many people.
