ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new approach to help people living with HIV who also struggle with unhealthy alcohol use. Researchers want to see if practice facilitation, which means providing support and resources to healthcare providers, can improve the way alcohol treatment is offered in HIV clinics. The trial will take place in three cities—Boston, San Diego, and Chapel Hill—and aims to ensure that patients receive better care for their alcohol use, which can help them stick to their HIV medications and maintain their health.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must be at least 18 years old, speak English, and be receiving HIV care at one of the participating clinics. They should also show signs of unhealthy alcohol use based on a simple screening test. If you join the study, you can expect to receive support through a stepped care model, which includes different levels of treatment like brief counseling and therapy. The trial will take place in phases, allowing researchers to gather important feedback from both patients and clinic staff to improve alcohol treatment in HIV care.
