ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new way to help people with plaque psoriasis, a condition that causes red, scaly patches on the skin. Researchers want to see if a treatment called transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS), which is a non-invasive method of stimulating a nerve in the ear, can improve the symptoms of psoriasis when added to standard treatment. The study aims to find out if using taVNS daily for three months can reduce inflammation and improve skin condition, as measured by a specific score called the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI).
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and have been diagnosed with plaque psoriasis by a dermatologist. However, pregnant individuals, those with certain nerve or heart conditions, and anyone expecting to change their medication during the study cannot join. If you decide to participate, you will receive either the taVNS treatment or a placebo (a treatment that does not have active ingredients) and will be monitored for changes in your skin condition and inflammation levels. This trial is important because it could potentially offer new hope for improving the quality of life for those affected by plaque psoriasis.
