ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how bariatric (weight-loss) surgery affects the gut's ability to absorb substances and the balance of bacteria in the intestines in patients with a liver condition called Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH). NASH is a type of liver disease that can occur in people who are overweight or obese. Researchers want to understand if this type of surgery can improve the health of the gut and help manage liver disease better.
To participate in the trial, you need to be between 65 and 74 years old, have morbid obesity, and plan to have bariatric surgery. It's important that you can attend follow-up visits and provide written consent to join. However, if you have other liver diseases, certain digestive issues, or are pregnant, you won't be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect regular check-ups to monitor your health before and after the surgery, helping doctors learn more about how this treatment affects both your weight and liver condition.
