ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying lymphedema, which is swelling that can occur in the arms or legs after surgery that involves lymph nodes. While we know that lymphedema can happen after surgeries for breast cancer, we don’t know much about it after surgeries for urologic cancers, like bladder, prostate, testicular, or penile cancer. The goal of this study is to find out how often lymphedema happens in patients after undergoing urologic surgery that includes lymph node removal and to assess its severity. Researchers will use a special questionnaire and tools to measure moisture and volume in the lower limbs to collect this information.
If you are between the ages of 65 and 74 and are scheduled for urologic surgery with lymph node dissection, you may be eligible to participate in this trial. There are no specific exclusion criteria, meaning almost anyone who meets the age and surgery requirements can join. As a participant, you can expect to fill out questionnaires and have your leg measurements taken to help researchers understand how common lymphedema is and how it affects your quality of life. Your involvement could greatly contribute to improving care and support for future patients facing similar surgeries.
