ClinConnect Summary
The Remedy to Diabetes Distress (R2D2) trial is studying a new program designed to help families of school-age children manage the emotional challenges that come with living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). This study aims to see if this program can effectively reduce feelings of stress related to diabetes, which could lead to better blood sugar control for children. The program is intended to be easy to use and could be expanded to help more families in the future.
To participate in this trial, children must be between 8 and 12 years old and have a confirmed diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes. It's important that either the child or a parent reports feeling stressed about managing diabetes. Participants will be using an intensive insulin treatment, like an insulin pump or multiple daily injections. Families who join the study can expect to engage in activities and discussions that help reduce diabetes-related stress. Please note that families who do not speak English, those with children using less intensive insulin methods, or those with specific allergies or other health conditions may not be eligible for this study.
