ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring the use of virtual reality (VR) to help children with cancer manage pain and anxiety during medical procedures. It focuses on kids aged 7 to under 18 who need certain treatments, like a lumbar puncture (a procedure to collect spinal fluid) or accessing an implantable port for chemotherapy. The study will compare how well using VR works for reducing pain and stress versus standard methods like nitrous oxide (a gas used for pain relief) and medications.
To be eligible for the trial, children must be able to understand French, have parental or guardian consent, and can be participating in treatment for blood or cancer-related issues. However, children with certain conditions or emergencies, or those who have difficulty using a VR headset, won't be included. If they participate, children can expect to be randomly assigned to either the VR group or the usual treatment group and will have support throughout the process. This study aims to see if VR can provide the same benefits as traditional pain relief methods in a fun and engaging way.
