ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different types of chronic pain work in people with fibromyalgia (FM) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes widespread muscle pain and affects about 4% of people, while rheumatoid arthritis leads to painful inflammation in the joints. Researchers want to understand how these two conditions might share some pain processing mechanisms, which could help improve treatment options for patients.
To participate in the trial, individuals need to be between the ages of 18 and 70 and meet specific criteria for either fibromyalgia or rheumatoid arthritis. Healthy volunteers without significant pain or emotional distress are also welcome. Participants can expect to undergo assessments and tests to help researchers learn more about their pain experiences. It's important to note that those with certain medical conditions, like diabetes or cancer, are not eligible to join the study. Overall, this trial aims to gather valuable information that could lead to better pain management strategies for people suffering from these chronic conditions.
