ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring whether a new hand-held digital imaging device called Neocam is better at spotting congenital cataracts in newborns compared to the traditional method using an ophthalmoscope. Congenital cataracts can cause blindness in children, and it’s important to detect them accurately to ensure timely treatment. The trial will help determine if the Neocam can reduce the chances of missing a cataract or mistakenly suggesting one is present when there isn’t.
All newborn babies who are undergoing a standard physical examination will be eligible to participate in this study. There are no specific exclusions, so any newborn can be included. If you choose to participate, you can expect a simple screening process that compares the two methods of eye examination. This research is important as it aims to improve the accuracy of cataract detection in infants, ultimately helping to prevent vision problems in children.
