ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of Cannabidiol (CBD) on reducing anxiety and fear in college students who experience high levels of social anxiety. The researchers want to see if taking CBD can help these individuals feel less fearful after being exposed to faces that they have been conditioned to associate with a negative experience, like a mild shock. Participants will be divided into two groups: one group will receive a single dose of CBD, while the other group will receive a placebo, which is a harmless substance that does not contain any active medication. The researchers will measure how quickly and effectively participants stop feeling fear when they see the faces again, using simple tests and questionnaires.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be between 18 and 50 years old and show signs of social anxiety. However, people with certain health issues, those who have used CBD or cannabis products recently, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding cannot participate. Everyone involved in the study will go through a fear conditioning task and have their responses monitored, helping researchers understand the potential benefits of CBD for anxiety. This trial is currently recruiting participants, so if you or someone you know might fit the criteria, it could be an opportunity to contribute to important research.
