ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new tool to help improve rehabilitation for Veterans after they have had total knee surgery, known as total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Usually, rehabilitation programs are the same for everyone, but this study wants to see if personalizing the treatment based on each Veteran's unique needs and goals can lead to better recovery. By using this tailored approach, the hope is that Veterans can recover more effectively while possibly needing fewer therapy visits. This could help the Veterans Health Administration ensure that all Veterans receive the support they need during their recovery process.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be Veterans who have had a total knee replacement and are starting outpatient rehabilitation within three weeks after their surgery. However, those receiving rehabilitation at home or in a skilled nursing facility, or who are younger than 40 or older than 90, won’t be included. If you decide to join this study, you can expect to receive personalized rehabilitation based on the new decision-support tool, which aims to help you recover in a way that suits you best. This trial could also pave the way for similar improvements for other patient groups in the future.
