ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a new way to care for older adults with gastrointestinal diseases, particularly focusing on those who are 65 years and older. The study aims to see if assessing a person's frailty—essentially how well they can manage physical activities and their overall health—can improve their experience and outcomes when undergoing a colonoscopy. Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive a personalized approach that includes a frailty assessment and tailored information about the procedure, or they will follow the current standard practice. The researchers want to find out how satisfied patients are and whether this new approach helps avoid unnecessary colonoscopies.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 65 years old and able to understand the instructions and complete questionnaires. Those who cannot provide informed consent or participate in the required assessments will not be included. The study is currently looking for volunteers at Princess Alexandra Hospital, and it offers a chance to contribute to improving care for older adults facing gastrointestinal health issues.
