ClinConnect Summary
The Insomnia Behavioral Intervention Study is a research trial designed to help people aged 55 to 85 who struggle with chronic insomnia and use sleeping pills regularly. The study will test a behavioral approach that focuses on improving sleep habits, known as sleep hygiene, with the goal of reducing reliance on sleeping medications and improving sleep quality. Participants will be monitored using an optional smartphone app to track their progress and adherence to the study’s recommendations.
To join the study, you must be between 55 and 85 years old, have been diagnosed with chronic insomnia by a doctor, and use sleeping pills at least three nights a week. You should also speak English at a level that allows you to understand the study requirements, have a smartphone or tablet, and have regular internet access. However, if you have serious mental health issues or a recent severe medical condition, you may not be eligible to participate. If you're interested, this study could provide valuable help in managing your insomnia and reducing your use of sleeping pills.
