Comparison Between Letrozole and Mifepristone in Medical Termination of First Trimester Miscarriages

This clinical trial is studying two different medications to help women who are experiencing a miscarriage during the first trimester of pregnancy. One group of participants will receive mifepristone, a commonly used treatment for this situation, followed by another medication called misoprostol. The other group will take letrozole for three days, followed by misoprostol. The researchers want to compare how long it takes for the pregnancy tissue to be expelled and how effective each treatment is in ensuring a complete miscarriage.

To participate, women must be over 18 years old and have a confirmed missed abortion (meaning the pregnancy is not viable) within the first 12 weeks, along with a healthy hemoglobin level. Unfortunately, women with certain health problems, such as blood disorders or a history of specific medical conditions, cannot participate. If you join the trial, you will receive either of the treatments and be monitored to see how well it works for you. This study is currently recruiting participants, and your involvement could help improve future care for women facing similar situations.

Eligibility criteria

• INCLUSION CRITERIA :
• • Women older than 18years who will give consent regarding medical management of missed abortion
• • First trimester pregnancy (gestational age less than equal to 12weeks) with missed abortion confirmed by ultrasonography
• • Hemoglobin level more than 12mg/dl
• EXCLUSION CRITERIA :
• • Hemodynamically unstable patient
• • Abnormalities in blood tests including complete blood count (CBC), prothrombin time(PT), internationalised normalized ratio(INR) and fibrinogen
• • History or clinical evidence of any thromboembolic impairment or deep venous thrombosis
• • Having intra-uterine device
• • Present or previous use of corticosteroids
• • History of any malignancy
• • Existing cardiovascular disease contraindicating misoprostol
