ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different definitions of undernutrition affect the number of hospitalized patients who are identified as undernourished. Undernutrition can lead to serious health issues, including longer hospital stays and higher chances of complications. Researchers are comparing two sets of guidelines, one from the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) and another from the French Health Authority (HAS), to see if they identify different numbers of undernourished patients in various hospital departments like diabetes, obesity, pneumology, oncology, and gastro-nutrition.
To participate in this study, patients need to be between 18 and 70 years old and admitted to one of the specified departments. Those who can provide informed consent and are able to undergo certain tests will be eligible. Participants can expect to undergo assessments for undernutrition, which may include measuring muscle function and other health indicators. The findings from this trial will help healthcare professionals understand how to better identify and manage undernutrition in hospitalized patients, ultimately improving patient care.
