ClinConnect Summary

The SOcial coNNEction in Long-Term Care Home Residents (SONNET) study is focusing on understanding social connections for individuals with dementia who live in long-term care homes. Researchers want to find out what social interactions and relationships are important to these residents. To do this, they will conduct interviews and focus groups with residents, caregivers, and staff to gather insights. This information will help create a new tool to measure social connections, which will be tested in care homes in Canada and the UK.

People who may be eligible to participate include long-term care residents with dementia or those showing signs of social challenges, as well as their caregivers and staff who interact with them. All participants need to be over 18 years old and able to understand English. If you join the study, you can expect to share your experiences and thoughts about social connections, which will contribute to improving the lives of individuals with dementia in care homes. This research aims to make a real difference in how we understand and support social interactions for those living with dementia.
