ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how two specific surgical procedures, laparoscopic splenectomy (removal of the spleen) and azygoportal disconnection (a type of surgery to reduce pressure in the blood vessels of the liver), can improve liver function in patients with cirrhosis. Cirrhosis is a serious condition where the liver is damaged and doesn't work as well as it should. The researchers want to see if these surgeries can help patients feel better and live longer by improving how well their liver functions after the operations.
To be eligible for this study, participants must have a diagnosed case of cirrhosis, an enlarged spleen, and have experienced bleeding from swollen veins in the esophagus. They also need to be able to give their consent to join the study. However, individuals with certain health conditions, such as liver cancer, severe liver damage, or recent serious medical issues, will not be able to participate. If you decide to take part in this trial, you can expect to undergo the surgeries and have regular follow-ups to monitor your liver function and overall health. This research aims to find better treatment options for patients with cirrhosis, which could lead to improved care in the future.
