ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a combination of physical therapy, high-protein nutrition, and electric stimulation can help older patients recover after being in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Many older patients who survive critical illness often experience weakness and difficulties moving because of their illness and other health issues. The goal of this trial is to see if these combined treatments can improve their strength and overall well-being. Researchers will also look at how this recovery relates to inflammation in the body.
To participate in this trial, individuals need to be at least 60 years old, have spent at least two weeks in the ICU, and be able to follow simple commands in English. They should be able to perform physical therapy and have been moderately independent before their ICU stay. Participants will receive the combination treatment and be monitored for improvements in their physical abilities and health. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to provide valuable insights into how to support recovery for older adults after critical illnesses.
