ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new treatment method called transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) to see if it can help improve symptoms in people with certain types of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease, Frontotemporal dementia, and Dementia with Lewy Bodies. The study will involve giving participants a gentle electrical stimulation to a specific part of the brain four times a day to see if it makes a difference in their cognitive abilities.
To be eligible for the trial, participants need to have mild cognitive impairment related to Alzheimer's, Dementia with Lewy Bodies, Frontotemporal dementia, or idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus. People who have a history of seizures, are pregnant, have metal implants in their head (other than dental fillings), or have electronic devices like pacemakers are not eligible. Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive the real stimulation or a placebo (a treatment that looks the same but has no active effect) to ensure fair results. The trial is currently recruiting individuals aged 65 to 74, and everyone is welcome to participate, regardless of gender.
