ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a condition called overactive bladder syndrome (OAB) in women. OAB is characterized by a strong urge to urinate frequently, sometimes with leakage. The researchers want to compare the bacteria and viruses found in the urine of women with OAB to those in women who do not have this condition. They are particularly interested in finding out if changes in these tiny organisms, known as the urinary microbiome, might play a role in causing OAB. Additionally, they will look at the differences in the bacteria from various body sites, like the vagina and rectum, to see how these might affect the bladder.

To participate in the trial, women aged 65 to 74 who have symptoms of OAB may be eligible. However, certain conditions will exclude them, such as pregnancy, neurological disorders, or recent urinary tract surgeries. Women who do not have any symptoms of OAB or other urinary issues can join as control participants. Those selected for the study can expect to provide urine samples and possibly other samples to help researchers better understand the relationship between the urinary microbiome and OAB. This study is currently recruiting participants and aims to gather valuable information that could improve understanding and treatment of OAB in the future.
