ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a new treatment for people who struggle with Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD), which is when gaming becomes an addiction and negatively affects a person's life. The study will test a special program based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps people change their thoughts and behaviors related to gaming. Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive 12 weeks of individual CBT treatment or to a wait-list group that will not receive treatment during that time. The goal is to see if the CBT program can help reduce the symptoms of gaming addiction more effectively than doing nothing for those 12 weeks.
To participate in this trial, individuals need to be at least 16 years old, able to read and speak Swedish, and meet certain criteria for IGD. This means they should show signs of gaming addiction as defined by a specific guideline. However, those with serious mental health issues or who are already receiving similar treatment will not be able to join the study. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to provide important information about effective ways to help people overcome gaming addiction.
