ClinConnect Summary
The Peer2Me clinical trial is studying a support program designed for young cancer patients aged 18 to 39. The goal of this program is to see how helpful it is for patients to have a mentor—someone who has had a similar cancer experience and is close in age. For three months, participants in the program (the intervention group) will meet regularly with their mentors, while those in the control group will only receive a one-time consultation. Researchers will check in with both groups before and after this period to understand how they are feeling emotionally and how their quality of life has changed.
To participate in this trial, you need to have been diagnosed with cancer within the last six months and have a good chance of recovery. You also should be a native German speaker or fluent in German. Mentors must have completed their own acute treatment at least two years ago. However, if you have a history of mental health issues or are receiving palliative care, you won't be eligible for this study. Overall, this trial aims to provide valuable support to young cancer patients and evaluate how peer mentoring can improve their coping experience.
