ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the use of telehealth services—essentially, mental health support provided over the internet—for young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Many individuals with IDD, particularly youth and young adults, face mental health challenges, and this study aims to improve access to the care they need. Researchers will first gather feedback from patients, families, and providers to make sure the telehealth services are effective. Then, they will compare the results of receiving mental health services online versus in-person to see which approach works better. This study is important because it is the first of its kind focusing on telehealth for crisis prevention and intervention in the IDD population.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be between 12 and 45 years old, live in a family setting, and be new enrollees in the START program within the last 90 days. There are no specific exclusions, so if you meet these criteria, you may be able to participate. If you join, you can expect to engage in a study that aims to enhance mental health care access and effectiveness for individuals like yourself or your loved ones. The results could help to identify and address any differences in mental health outcomes among different groups, ultimately leading to better support for people with IDD.
