ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring whether the Y Balance Test (YBT) can help predict the risk of concussions in high school athletes. The YBT is a simple balance exercise where participants stand on one leg and reach in different directions with the other leg. By measuring how far they can reach, researchers hope to understand if their balance ability is linked to the risk of getting a concussion. The study also looks at how factors like previous concussions and visual distractions might affect balance and injury risk.
Students in grades 6 through 12 who participate in school or club sports may be eligible to take part in the study. Participation is completely voluntary, and those who join will undergo the Y Balance Test several times over four years to track any changes. After testing, athletes will receive feedback on their performance, and any questions they have will be answered. This research aims to enhance our understanding of injury prevention in sports, helping to keep young athletes safer.
