ClinConnect Summary
The Phase-Germ Project is a clinical trial aimed at improving how we assess the nutritional health of patients who are scheduled for major abdominal surgery. This is particularly important for patients with conditions like colon or ovarian cancer, where standard methods of measuring nutrition may not work well, especially for those who are overweight or obese. The goal of the trial is to develop better ways to evaluate muscle mass and overall physical health in these patients to help them recover more effectively after surgery.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled for a major abdominal surgery, whether for cancer or non-cancer reasons. However, if you are facing an emergency surgery or have severe health issues, you may not be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo new assessments that focus on your muscle and physical function as part of your care before and after surgery. This research could help enhance recovery programs not just for you, but for future patients as well.
