ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different ways to help manage pain after spine surgeries, specifically for patients undergoing lumbar procedures like discectomy or treatment for vertebral fractures. The researchers want to compare the effectiveness of an erector spinae plane block (ESPB), a new type of nerve block technique, against traditional intravenous (IV) morphine for pain relief. The goal is to find out which method helps patients feel better and recover more quickly after their surgery.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should be adults aged between 18 and 75 who are scheduled for lumbar disc surgery or have a fractured lumbar vertebra. However, there are some criteria that would exclude someone from participating, such as having a history of drug abuse, significant neurological issues, or allergies to the medications used in the study. If you join the trial, you can expect to receive either the ESPB or IV morphine for pain management after your surgery, and the researchers will monitor your pain levels to see which treatment works better. This study could help improve pain management strategies for future patients undergoing spine surgery.
