ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to monitor how well the diaphragm is working in patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a serious disease that affects muscle control. The diaphragm is a crucial muscle for breathing, and problems with it can lead to serious respiratory issues. Currently, doctors use various tests to check diaphragm function, but these tests can be complicated and not always available. The trial aims to see if a simpler method called diaphragmatic ultrasound can effectively track diaphragm health and predict when patients might need breathing support.
To participate in this study, individuals must have a confirmed diagnosis of ALS and should not yet need non-invasive ventilation (a machine that helps with breathing). Participants should be adults who can understand and communicate in French. Those who have existing breathing issues that require ventilation or are in certain legal situations, such as being under guardianship, cannot join the trial. By taking part, patients will help researchers find a better way to monitor diaphragm function, which could lead to improved care for people with ALS.
