ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a new way to educate expectant parents about prenatal genetic screening, which helps identify potential genetic issues in a developing baby. The researchers are comparing the traditional method of one-on-one genetic counseling with a fun educational game designed to teach about these screenings. This is important because, while genetic counseling is the best way to learn about prenatal options, there aren’t enough counselors available, especially in rural areas. The goal is to see if the game can help more people understand their choices and make informed decisions regarding prenatal testing.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult who speaks English and is attending your first or second prenatal visit, and you should be less than 15 weeks pregnant. Your partner can also join if they are an adult and speak English. Participants will complete tasks using a computer or smartphone from home. However, if you’ve already had prenatal screening in this or a previous pregnancy, or if you have a family history of genetic issues, you won’t be eligible to take part. This trial aims to make prenatal education more accessible and effective, providing valuable information to parents-to-be.
