ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring the best ways to treat children with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), a serious type of epilepsy that starts in early childhood and causes frequent seizures. The study is comparing two treatment options: adding more anti-seizure medications or opting for palliative surgery, which is designed to reduce the number of seizures and improve the child's quality of life. Researchers want to see which approach leads to fewer emergency room visits and hospital stays, and whether starting treatment at a younger age makes a difference in how well children develop and function in everyday life.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must have a diagnosis of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and be receiving care at one of the participating pediatric hospitals. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and it is open to all children within the designated age range. Families who join the study can expect to contribute to important research that may help other children with LGS in the future by providing clearer guidance on treatment options. Overall, the findings from this trial aim to help parents and healthcare providers make better-informed decisions for managing this challenging condition.
