ClinConnect Summary
The TRAITS-HFpEF study is focused on understanding a specific type of heart failure known as Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF). This condition happens when the heart struggles to pump blood effectively, leading to symptoms like shortness of breath, fatigue, and swelling in the feet or ankles. The goal of the trial is to learn more about why some people develop HFpEF, to find new tests and treatments, and to gather information about the lifespan of those living with this condition. To achieve this, researchers will collect information from patients who visit a specialized HFpEF clinic.
If you or a loved one is between the ages of 65 and 74 and is attending the HFpEF clinic at Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT), you may be eligible to participate in this study. Participants will be asked to share their health information regularly, which will help improve understanding and treatment of HFpEF. It's important to note that individuals under 18, those who are imprisoned, or those unable to give clear consent in English cannot participate. This study could provide valuable insights that may benefit future patients with heart failure.
