ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is aimed at finding a better way to detect gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) early in pregnancy. GDM is a type of diabetes that can develop during pregnancy and can affect both the mother and the baby. The study will test a new screening method during the first trimester, which is the first three months of pregnancy. The goal is to see if this method is practical and acceptable for women who are at high risk for developing GDM.
To participate in this trial, women need to be at least 18 years old, be less than 12 weeks pregnant with a single baby, and plan to receive their prenatal care and delivery at UMMHC. They should also be able to speak English or Spanish and meet certain risk factors for GDM. However, women with a known history of diabetes before pregnancy or those who plan to have their care elsewhere won't be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo some tests to check for GDM and contribute to important research that could help improve care for pregnant women in the future.
