ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how thyroid surgery (called thyroidectomy) affects patients with goiters who also have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). OSA is a condition where a person's breathing is repeatedly interrupted while sleeping, which can lead to serious health issues. The researchers want to find out how common OSA is in people with goiters who are scheduled for this surgery, whether the surgery helps improve or resolve their sleep apnea, and what factors might indicate who will still have OSA after the surgery.

To be eligible for this study, participants need to be adults planning to have thyroid surgery for a goiter. However, those who have had previous neck surgery, certain chest diseases, or have trouble understanding the study due to language differences cannot participate. If you join the trial, you can expect to undergo evaluations to check for OSA and receive support throughout the process. This study aims to provide valuable insights into the relationship between goiters and sleep apnea, potentially leading to better care for patients facing these conditions.
