ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at two different surgical techniques used in kidney transplantation for children. Specifically, the researchers want to compare a method called non-refluxing ureteroneocystostomy (UNC) to another method called reflux UNC. They aim to see which technique leads to fewer urinary tract infections and problems with the ureters (the tubes connecting the kidneys to the bladder) in young kidney transplant recipients.

To participate in this study, children and young adults who received a kidney transplant at one of the participating centers between the ages of 0 and 19 years from 1994 to 2018 may be eligible. They should have follow-up data for at least one year after their transplant. Participants in the study can expect their past medical information to be reviewed to help understand the outcomes of these two surgical techniques. This research is important as it could help improve future kidney transplant surgeries and reduce complications for young patients.
