ClinConnect Summary
The "Controls and Healthy Vasculature Initiative" is a clinical trial aimed at understanding diseases related to blood, blood vessels, and the immune system. Researchers need to compare blood samples from healthy individuals and those with these diseases to learn more about how they affect health and to improve testing methods. By collecting blood from healthy volunteers, the study hopes to establish what is considered "normal" in these tests.
To participate, you must be a healthy adult aged 18 or older, and you cannot be pregnant or nursing. You'll have a quick telehealth visit or phone call to go over your health history before coming to the NIH Clinical Center to donate blood. During your visit, about 10 tablespoons of blood will be drawn, and some samples may be used for future research. You can choose to return for repeat visits over the next 10 years if you wish, and you will receive $50 for each blood collection visit. This study is not only important for advancing medical research but also helps ensure new tests are accurate and effective.
