ClinConnect Summary

The TRANS-FOODS clinical trial is exploring how peanut allergens, which can cause allergies in some people, interact with the skin, especially in those who have dry skin or a skin condition called atopic dermatitis (AD). The study aims to find out if peanut proteins can enter the skin through massage and whether this effect is stronger in individuals with skin barrier issues. Researchers will also check if these proteins can be detected in the skin fluid and if they can trigger allergic reactions in people who are already allergic to peanuts. Additionally, the trial will investigate if using a special cream can help prevent the absorption of peanut proteins through the skin.

To participate in the study, you need to be an adult aged 18 and older, either healthy or with dry skin or AD. You'll be asked to apply a specific treatment and not use any other skin products on your forearms during the study. However, if you have a history of peanut allergies or have had a positive skin test for peanuts, you won't be able to join. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and it's a great opportunity to contribute to understanding peanut allergies better while helping develop preventative strategies.
